The first week or two of this experiment, I was sailing! I didn’t even want chicken 0r beef. Then, a few days ago, my dad got a rotisserie for his grill. And grilled a chicken. And Bob and I were over for dinner. It was tough. I had my grilled veggies and my pasta, and I really enjoyed it. I got through it by reminding myself that I don’t like that post-meat taste very much, even if the first bite is great. So, I got through just fine. Just a momentary blip.
Next rolls around the Fourth of July. Bob and I came to visit a friend of ours in Rhode Island, via Albany. In Albany we had breakfast at a little cafe, and I had a really nice Tuscan omelet. Then onward to RI! If you ever get a chance to come to North Kingstown or Warwick, I highly recommend it. Picturesque downtowns, beautiful views of the inlet (or whatever that thing is), and lots of fresh seafood. I had a crab cake sandwich at Tavern by the Sea. Yum! Then later on, we grilled. The grilling part was the hard part. Bob and Angela had beef burgers and hotdogs. I opted for garden burgers. I was a little sad when I saw the beef burgers go on the grill, but that only lasted until I tried the garden burger. It was great! Ange also put together a salad: fresh greens, sliced strawberries, sliced almonds, feta cheese, and oil and vinegar. All in all, the grill is a dangerous place unless you’re prepared.
