How are you brave?

I don’t like this prompt – it’s begging the question.

I have no idea if this is a true story, but I don’t think that matters. I think what does matter is the idea of being a kind person. Being kind when it’s free and easy for you to do, and being kind when it costs you something. We only get one chance at life, and to spend it spreading or allowing misery is sure shitty. I’d rather this prompt asked us how we are being kind, because kindness is a necessity. Do not confuse niceness with kindness. Niceness is performative and can be cruel (not telling someone the truth to save face, for example). Kindness is more vulnerable and harder. So how are you being kind?
