Lipped

I like a good lip color. When I find myself adrift in a pharmacy with time on my hands – as I was yesterday, waiting on Henry’s eye drops – I can’t resist the siren call of the lip colors. I don’t wear any other make-up, and I don’t always wear lip color, but I really like to. I have quite a bit of canvas, so I make the best of it. Yesterday I picked up Revlon Colorstay Ultimate liquid lipstick in Top Tomato, and when they say “colorstay” they are NOT FUCKING AROUND.

I applied it yesterday morning – this is two coats, letting it dry fully in between:

Let’s see how it holds up! I spent the day drinking hot beverages and eating a lot of various things (as is my wont). I didn’t bother re-applying, because I’m lazy and have things to do.

This was 12 hours later:

It had been a really long day. Two sick kids. I had just cuddled the baby who was feverish and miserable. I just wanted to watch some damn House Hunters and not think about anything for awhile. I have to admit, I was beginning to worry about how I was going to get this off.

And for good reason – I can’t get it off. I don’t have any make-up remover, because I don’t wear make-up. I scrubbed with soap, with water, with paper towels. I ended up just sleeping with it on, and none transferred to my sheets.

This was on my commute in the morning (I’m stopped in line at Tim Hortons, not actually driving):

I haven’t reapplied any at this point – it’s just still there. I’m obviously going to pick some make-up remover up today when I go get antibiotics for the other sick kid.

After my first meeting this morning, I decided to apply a coat to fix up where it was starting to fray (where I nibbled on my inner lip), and just roll with it. I look like this now. I am Top Tomato.
