We all know that gelatin is made from animal by-products (bones and whatnot) – now they’re making gelatin out of human genes (see the link below for the story from Fast Company). It looks like, so far, it’s being used for stabilizers for vaccines and perhaps in pill capsules. Regardless, I find it off-putting.

You have gelatin in the discs in your back, it takes a minimum of 18 months to regenerate it once you damage a disc. You can also only hydrate them with water, and caffeine detracts from them. My gelatin is a very precious resource that I would not want to share. So where are they getting it? Cadavers? Ewww.

I guess they’re getting it from you, since you seem to be in short supply. I don’t know where they get the original human genes from, but the article states that it’s literally from people. I don’t know how to make heads or tails from that. Again, I suspect they’re harvesting it from you. This is what you get for being in the military.
