Date night

I’ve been particularly anxious lately. There are a lot of factors, and many which I actually enjoy, like the kids’ sports. I am defacto in charge of Henry’s cross country stuff. Bob is coaching Grant’s hockey team, as well as being on two teams (including one that is the 50+ team – oh how far we’ve come from the Guns’n’Hoses days), and so is on the ice 6 days a week. Henry has practice and meets 6 days a week. So it’s busy. But I love it! But it contributes to my anxiety. It just kind of is what it is.

On Saturday nights, Bob and I have been having date nights. That might not work well anymore as the Bills and Sabres ramp up, but for now, it matters a lot to me. This past Saturday, Bob invited me to the Sabres game with him! I loved it so much. The game was fine (they won!) but I loved enjoying it with him. And because I’m me, I chatted with a bunch of the staff at the arena, which I quite enjoyed.

He charged me with finding a place for cocktails and apps ahead of the game, and I feel I delivered. I chose Graylynn Gin Bar. It was delightful! And our waitperson, Kat, liked my hair. I recommended dry shampoo to her (at her request), but her hair was gorgeous and perfect. She has nothing to worry about. I had a schmancy grilled cheese with plums and green apple in it. Never had anything like it, and I loved it. Bob had. He had. It was something he was delighted with, but I cannot remember because I was busy being besties with Kat and my food.

Then we drove to park for the game. It was fun! I bustled around, chatted with folks, and enjoyed the game. Bob was riveted to the game, watching the skills on display (they were really quite talented, which is helpful in the NHL). We haven’t been to a game together in years and years. One of our first dates was to a Sabres game (vs senators)!

Post game, we cruised back to the car, and snagged a photo of me with Shark Girl, which I insist on every time we walk by her. Then the long drive home. I cranked the stereo in the car and yelled along to Hozier and Mars and more.

And I got some choice photos of bob rolling his pretty lil eyes at me 😇

He makes me less anxious.
