Yesterday we bought Hungry, Hungry Hippos for the kids. We hadn’t yet done board games (matching games and puzzles, yes), so I didn’t really expect them to get it or want to follow the rules.
They totally got it. We played round after round, and even though we didn’t go into the winning aspect, they sat on the floor with us and happily helped their hippos gobble marbles. Henry, in particular, wanted his hippo to eat, and so began what seems likely to be a long career of game cheating.
It’s fun to see how they grow and change and interact differently with us as they continue to develop.
Here’s a photo from yesterday of them just playing.
