This post was written by Bob to mark our one year anniversary in North Carolina. I blogged pretty extensively throughout the past year so I wanted some additional perspective on this period.
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of us moving to North Carolina. Until now, I haven’t been able to reflect on the whirlwind of events that was our last 12 months. Some of the biggest life events we experienced was me quitting my old job in New York and starting a new job in North Carolina, moving out of our old house into an apartment, selling our old house, getting pregnant, shopping for a new house, buying a new house, moving into our new house, losing a friend, having a baby, becoming an aunt/uncle, and getting rear ended by a drunk driver (yesterday).
It’s easy to focus on, and natural to feel the effects of, the stress associated with all these crazy things happening in our lives, but now that things have calmed down a little, I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced the things we have and extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished.
I’m usually pretty sentimental around anniversaries and birthdays, special events and other hallmark holidays, so being settled in North Carolina in almost exactly a year is pretty special. I live for these moments in life – the big moments in life that are simultaneously stressful and joyous and that we always learn from. I expect our second year in North Carolina to be more tame and therefore less stressful and more joyous now that were settled, but if we are destined to endure a little more stress I say bring it on.

Okay, so New York to North Carolina is a start. Just a little further South, please, next time. Thanks.
